Book Review: Cowboys Like Us\Notorius (Romance)

I have to say that since I've gotten my new kindle, I've been reading non-stop - and for the most part, I've slipped into my old routine of searching out Romance novels.  It's partly the kindle's fault - I am forever reading a few pages at a time and putting it down - never losing my place - and I'm reading more while I'm out.  I read while I sit and wait for Wayne or Robyn when I'm picking them up.  I read while I'm waiting in a particularly long line at the grocery store... well you get my drift.

Well, unlike most of the romance novels that I've picked up for kindle recently, Cowboys Like Us: Cowboys Like Us\Notorious (Harlequin Blaze) by Vicki Lewis Thompson was something that I locked myself away to read without putting down.

From the Publisher:
Real cowboys aren’t born. They’re made... Logan Carswell has just kissed his professional baseball career goodbye. Goodbye dreams, career and future. For now, though, he’s working at the Last Chance Ranch and the town saloon, where sexy bartender Caro Davis is definitely taking his mind off his troubles....
Caro’s days have been so hectic, she’s forgotten all about the finer aspects of life. Like men. And sex. And really smokin’-hot sex with men like Logan. But when their two worlds collide—and boy, do they ever collide—they both realize that once the gear is off, a cowboy is still a cowboy!
Bonus Story Inside: Celebrate the 10th anniversary with Vicki Lewis Thompson’s first Blaze™ book, NOTORIOUS!
My review:
Cowboys Like Us: Cowboys Like Us\Notorious (Harlequin Blaze)I always find Vicki Lewis Thompson's books fun and relaxing with a little heat.  This book is part of the BLAZE line for Harlequin, so I expected some steamy scenes and I wasn't disappointed. This story had some great characters and a great plot that kept you moving through the story.  This book is the sixth in a continuity, but I hadn't read the first five and I have to say that I didn't know it was a continuity until I did some further research into the characters.  I love continuity series because the secondary characters in each book have more depth and interest and time because they recur in several books and may star in their own.  Being that this was the sixth, you could tell that many of the characters had interacted on some level before and that the writer knew who she was writing about more intimately than she would have on a one off.

I have to say that Notorious wasn't as exciting a read for me, but it's always interesting to compare how far a writer has come in their development - since Notorious was Ms. Thompson's first published story and Cowboys Like Us was her latest.  It was a definite bonus and worth the free read.

If you are still in summer reading mode and you're looking for a spicy pick me up, then check out Cowboys Like Us: Cowboys Like Us\Notorious and enjoy!
