Product Review: French Toast School Uniforms

One of the toughest things I've found as a mom of kids who wear uniforms to school is that sometime after you stock up on everything they need for the entire school year, the darn kids keep growing!  For the past several years, I've had to scramble mid-year because Robyn has started to go to school in capris that were long pants the week before.  Last spring, she finally started getting a bit of a butt and she grew 3 1/2 inches in 3 months, so finding appropriate and approved uniforms during the 'off season' was a tough slog.

That's why I'm pleased to be able to review French Toast, the online uniform store - which is open 24/7 all year long!
For many years, school uniforms were thought of as stuffy and dowdy. That was then, this is now. French Toast School Uniforms are school dress code-approved, but if you look at the site, you’ll see they are really quite nice, stylish and very inexpensive. Almost one in four public school students in the US attend a school with a dress code, and most private and parochial schools have a dress code or uniform program. And the number of schools approving a dress code increases by at least 5 percent each year.
French Toast sent me three pieces for Robyn to review - a pair of pants, bermuda shorts and a long sleeved polo top.

My Review:
The first thing I noticed and liked when I clicked on their site was that they had a wide range of sizes to cover everyone from pre-school to teenagers!  From sizes 2T to Adult 5XL!  They also They have also designed their uniforms with both function and fashion in mind.

The website was easy to navigate and shop at, and even though it is off-peak time, I was able to find almost everything I wanted in stock!  Robyn has a pretty simple dress code - khaki bottoms and navy collared top, and next year her top color will change to white to designate her grade level.  It was also easy to know sizing, because each item had a sizing chart that detailed the exact sizing for that item.

I chose to get her a pair of cute Bermuda shorts, because the ones she had from last year aren't meeting the length requirement any more (darn that growing child - gotta remember to quit feeding her) and finding shorts that make the cut right now in stores is tough.  I really hemmed and hawed over the below the knee Bermuda short too, thinking that she might get more wear out of them, but I decided to go with the traditional ones.  I may order them for her next.

The second thing I picked was the skinny stretch twill pant.  I really like these for Robyn because one of the trends at her school has been wearing boots with their uniforms and the skinny pant looks great with her boots!  Again, this is a tough look to find in stores right now, so finding it online for her is great!

They had a full range of pants - 9 different styles for juniors alone, everything from adjustable waist to pleated to wide leg - something for everyone!

Both pairs of pants were well made and Robyn has worn them to school several times now and been very comfortable.  I love that they are easily washable and the stains come right out - even the ketchup that she sat in one day at the cafeteria!

My final pick was a simple long sleeved polo for next year - I got it just a little big so that she can grow into it!    I like that this is a good, tight knit and is still very soft!  As with the pants, it's well constructed and a great fit and a great price!

Beyond the specific merchandise, one of the things that impressed me most about French Toast is that they give back to schools!  If you order your uniform from them online, your school can earn 5% cash back and prizes!  If even 10% of the students order through this, it could be a great fundraiser!

Shipping is quite reasonable - and even if you only need to buy your school uniforms once a year - not fighting the crowds during back to school shopping is worth it to me!  You can also register for updates and discounts just by sharing your email address with them!

If you're like me and need to find uniforms for your kids, I highly recommend that you check out French Toast!
