MMMmonday - Slow Cooked Sweet and Spicy Ham

I posted on my Facebook Fan Page for suggestions on what you'd like to see on the MMMmonday post and I got two responses... something for Easter and a slow cooker recipe, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and give you this yummy recipe for Slow Cooked Sweet and Spicy Ham...
It's got a bit of a middle eastern flair to it that suits my mood sometimes when just plain ham won't do...

Slow Cooked Sweet and Spicy Ham

3-pound fully cooked smoked boneless ham
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon turmeric (optional)
2 jars (6 ounces each) fruit chutney (1 1/2 cups) - you can control the spice a little here by choosing a hot or mild chutney
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1 cup dried apricots, chopped
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup pineapple chunks
1 cup frozen small whole onions (from 1-pound bag) or 1 cup diced onions

Directions

  1. Place ham in medium or large slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle with pepper.
  3. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over ham.
  4. Cover and cook on low heat setting 6 to 8 hours.
