1st R&G of 2012 - Shabby Apple Ballerina Dress

I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the Shabby Apple website (www.shabbyapple.com) for the first time.  I clicked around to look for a sizing chart and discovered two great things - the Style Guide and a fit guide on each dress!  Shabby Apple offers a huge variety of Women's Dresses, separates and accessories and the prices are really reasonable!

I am currently hovering between an XL and a plus size, so I was originally hesitant to shop online, but when I read the description of the Ballerina dress, I knew that it would fit well:
Plum-colored folds of soft jersey fabric dip from the shoulders into a ruched waist that runs from bust to hip on this flouncy, ballet-inspired dress.  Perfect for traveling, this dress sports a V-neck and fully lined skirt for extra coverage, so whether at the office or on the road, you'll feel comfortable and beautiful.
This dress follows our Fits Generously size chart.  We recommend ordering a size down for petite customers and/or those preferring a more snug fit.  This dress flatters most body types and is particularly nice for new mothers as it hides a tummy!
Poly/Rayon/Spandex blend jersey fabric. Machine wash cold, delicate cycle. Line dry.
I was struck by three things when I opened the package... It was a brighter plum color than I expected... in the picture online it looks more muted, but it is a deep rich color in person!  It was heavier than I expected - partly because it was fully lined, which I love - no slips to wear!  And finally - it fit like a glove!

I especially like how it does camouflage some of the tummy area - because after two kids, one of them nearly 10 lbs, my stomach just isn't what it used to be...  I also really like how it's lined so that I can wear a decent bra underneath without having to worry about straps showing through on flimsier material.  I love that this material is one that you can dress up or down - I wore it out to dinner with hubby, but I wouldn't feel overdressed wearing it to volunteer at the kids school or out for a mystery shop!  I also think that the material will travel well, so I think that if I ever make it to one of the bloggy conferences, this will be one of the outfits I pack!
With capped sleeves and a great skirt length - right below the knee on my 5'7" frame, I think this will prove to be one of the most popular dresses in my wardrobe for several seasons!  I have a great cardigan I can pair it with for winter and some cute Pashminas for cooler fall and spring evenings...

The best part is that I can offer one lucky US reader a Ballerina Dress of your own!  Available in sizes XXS- XL (remembering the generous fit) please follow the directions on the rafflecopter form below:
