Great Romance Novella E-books to add to your reader this New Years!

Whether you are curled up in front of a roaring fire or snuggled into bed with your e-reader and looking for some fun romance reads, I have some great e-novellas for you!  I was able to read all of these novellas as part of the Netgalley E-ARC program and all opinions are my own.

If you're looking for a historical romance with humor, mistaken identity and a happy ending, you'll want to check out The Earl's Christmas Colt by Rebecca Thomas!

Lady Arabella Sutton is stunned to learn her brother has betrothed her to a stranger despite his promises for a season in London. Although she is the first to admit no man would suit, since she’s more interested in horses than marriage, the last thing she wants is to become a brood mare to a stuffy old earl. Facing a future she cannot abide, she takes an impetuous ride to clear her head and ends up tending her injured mare instead.

Oliver Westwyck, the Earl of Marsdale, can’t believe his luck when he stops at an inn the night before he’s to meet his fiancĂ©e. In the stable, while tending the colt he intends to give to his future wife, he happens upon her—rain-drenched but beautiful. She assumes he’s a stable hand, a fine joke he means to end...until Lady Arabella declares all noblemen are egotistical, conceited, and arrogant. How can he reveal his true identity before he’s managed to change her mind and win her heart?

My take: An arranged marriage with a Christmas twist... this story was fun and the characters were well developed for a short novella!  Ms Thomas dove right in and wove a tale fraught with misdirection, strong opinions and holiday magic.

Like historical romance, but want something spicier?  You might want to download The Twelve Days of Seduction by Marie Claremont:

Alexander Hunt, Eighth Duke of Berresford, is aware his ward's governess misrepresented herself to gain employment, and he’s quite displeased, even if she is one of the most intelligent women’s he’s ever met. His ward deserves a reputable governess, so he threatens to give Adriana the sack mere days before Christmas.
Desperate to convince the sexy duke not to tear her from the little girl she's grown to adore, Adriana challenges him to prove she’s not the reputable governess he believed he hired. If he can seduce her before the Twelve Days of Christmas have come to an end, she will leave without protest.
But when they find the challenge more difficult than either imagined, can they face the consequences of their decisions?
My Take: If you haven't already read this novella in the anthology, All I Want For Christmas is a Duke, you may want to pick it up solo!  Told from both Adriana and Alexander's perspectives, this novella has a cat and mouse element that makes you want to keep reading along with a burgeoning romance and respect that makes this a sweet holiday read.

If you are looking for something more contemporary - but with the same element of misdirection and even more humor, check out Under the Hood by Sally Clements:

When sexy mechanic Alice Starr mistakenly believes attorney Mark Jameson needs her help, he discovers he likes being rescued for a change. Smitten by her confidence, he hides his expertise so he has an excuse to see her again.
Starting their new all-female garage, Under the Hood, is keeping Alice and her friends busy. She doesn't have time for a man. But with one kiss, she and Mark have advanced into water so deep she's in danger of drowning. So why hasn't he called?
Mark wants to tell Alice the truth so they can pursue a relationship. But he's got even bigger problems at his office when his bitter aunt threatens Alice’s livelihood. He needs a plan, fast, or else Under the Hood and his chances with Alice could both be ruined.

My Take: Another novella with well developed characters who leap off the page!  You know who you are dealing with almost from the get go... and the sparks that fly between Mark and Alice mean that this novella has heat, humor and a happy ending!

What happens when the sexiest man you've slept with is also your new competition for partner?  Find out in Pushing the Limits by Nancy Fraser:

When a case of mistaken identity puts Cade Tucker in the wrong place at the right time, he can't believe his luck. Drawn to the beautiful Julia McCormack, he flirts his way into her bed, and they welcome the New Year together.
Though they agreed their time together was no-strings-attached sex only, Julia's having a hard time letting go of the best sex she ever had. She dives into work at her corporate law firm, hoping to get her mind off the man who rocked her world. But then Julia finds out the senior partner has appointed a new attorney to work with her on her biggest case, and her co-counsel will be Cade Tucker. Her plans to make partner are in serious jeopardy when she and Cade disagree on the best legal strategy for their case, but what will happen when they can no longer fight their desire, and the company's strict non-fraternization policy threatens both of their jobs?

My Take: Trying to be both naughty and nice can really spice up a romance!  I love that both characters aren't afraid to speak their minds and go after what they want - eventually!  A fun and fast paced novella!

What about getting a chance to start over again with an unrequited love - only if you get Kiss Me at Midnight by Diane Alberts

Her New Year’s resolution was seduction…
Doctor Ashley Hanes has one mission and one mission only—end her annoyingly long dry streak and ring in the New Year with abang. Literally. When her long lost and oh-so-sexy ex-best friend, Ethan Pierce, shows up as if he hadn’t broken her heart all those years ago, suddenly she doesn’t want to bring home just any man. She wants Ethan.

What should have been one night of blow-your-mind make-up sex quickly turns into another. And another. Before long, Ashley thinks maybe she and Ethan should reunite for good. If only the elusive bachelor will stop running from his tortured past and trust a future in Ashley’s arms…

My Take: The timing wasn't right when they both had crushes on each other in high school so when they finally got together, they sparks flew, rekindling their desires - this was a great read with steamy scenes and lovable characters.
THis was a fun and quick group of e-books to read!  Ranging from abouit 50 - 100 pages each, they are perfect for a quick afternoon read!  Which one interests you the most?
