A few years ago I really thought I was a little nuts to try to take my two young boys to live theater - but they had a blast when we went to see the last Yo Gabba Gabba Live show at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center - actually, Liam was completely riveted and Erik had a great time bopping along even though he was only a year old... and now that they're both a little older and wiser, but still loving Yo Gabba Gabba, we're looking forward to heading to this year's show GET THE SILLIES OUT! And to prepare, we've also started checking out the new Yo Gabba Gabba App!
First off... some details about the show:
Is your family ready to GET THE SILLIES OUT? Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! is going back on the road with a new show, “Get the Sillies Out!” featuring the one and only DJ Lance Rock, plus Muno, Foofa, Brobee, Toodee, and Plex, and of course, hip hop legend Biz Markie.
Winner of Billboard’s Creative Content Award, Yo Gabba Gabba! Live! has performed in front of countless fans across the U.S. and Canada over the past three years, and the new show “Get the Sillies Out!” is sure to be one you won't want to miss. We've taken the fan favorites from the past two tours and combined them with some all-new music and other surprises that we can't tell you about… yet!

Yo Gabba Gabba! Hello Friends! offers digital-savvy families an easy way to encourage kids to build critical thinking skills while entertaining any time, anywhere. Kids will enjoy talking to Brobee, Foofa, Muno, Plex and Toodee; dressing up the characters and DJ Lance Rock; playing games that incentivize players to collect virtual stickers to use in the dress up interactive feature, and watching their favorite live action and animated segments from the television series, including “Cool Tricks,” “Dancey Dance,” “Story Time” and “Super Music Friends Show.”
Our review:
Erik loves this app... and I have to say that I too am addicted to some of the games myself! My own personal favorite is Brobee Jump - where you have to tilt your iPad or phone to make Brobee jump... it really takes some skill! Erik's favorite thing to do is the to talk to his friends - he's so used to Skype-ing his grandparents that talking with his Yo Gabba Gabba friends and getting to see himself in the little 'reflection' box is a hoot! It also means that when we're up in the middle of the night and he wants to chat with someone, he's not trying to phone or Skype the same grands...
I also really like the embedded video clips - we don't have cable, and the video clips give the kids just enough of a taste of one of their favorite shows without having to stream from online - which makes this a perfect travel app! Liam likes being able to play around in the photo area - adding stickers to his favorite characters! I also love that this app will expand over time, so it won't get stale like so many of the other apps we have.
