Blogger Interview with... Brandi from Adventures in Mattyland

I am pleased to invite Brandi from Adventures in Mattyland to hang out for a spell and share a little bit about herself and her blog with us!

1. Tell us a little bit about your blog:

I started Adventures in Mattyland to chronicle our family's real-life adventures in parenting a child with a whole host of special needs--Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, Cortical Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Non-verbal-- and all that goes along with raising a special kid. I want others to see that our life, especially our son Matt's life, isn't to be pitied or looked down on and that you can find joy in your life in spite of living with disabilities.

2. How long have you been blogging and what do you love about it?

I am a newbie to the blogging world, having just started Adventures in Mattyland in July of this year, and so far I am loving the sense of community that I have found in blogging. When our son was first starting to get his diagnoses, I felt so alone amongst other moms and became very withdrawn because I couldn't relate to them. I have made new blogging friends who are so supportive and who get what life in "Special Needs World" is like. It has been very healing for me and our family as a whole.

3. Who is the person or group behind the blog?

I'm just your average wife and mom. My husband and I have been married for almost 11 years, Matt is our only child and he keeps us hopping constantly. I am constantly running him to school, therapies and playdates, my husband is a teacher. Our life is surprisingly normal despite making accommodations for Matt's needs.

4. What hobbies/interests do you have?

I am a speed-reading bookworm, usually reading two or three books at any given time. I love taking pictures and scrapbooking, especially pictures of my little guy. Music and cooking are two of my biggest forms of enjoyment. I am happiest in my kitchen cooking and jamming out.

5. If you could invite 4 people (real or fictional, living or dead) to a dinner party, who would you invite and what would you serve?

I would love to invite to Julia Child, John Lennon, Jenny Lawson (The Bloggess) and Valerie, my best friend in the whole world, because she would kill me if Julia Child and John Lennon were at my house and I didn't invite her . I would serve pasta made with a Lemon Cream sauce, a huge salad, and something really rich and decadent for dessert.

6. I can’t live without…

My family, my cell phone, the iPad for scheduling all of the kiddo's doctor/therapy appointments, and all things caffeinated. Without my caffeine fix I am a hot mess!

7. Something people would be surprised to know about me is…

I am obsessed with trivia and pop culture, especially movies and music. I can kick butt in Trivial Pursuit and Scene It!
