9 at 9 - An Interview with...

Welcome to 9 at 9 - the Saturday feature where I interview my fellow bloggers in the hot seat and give us a chance to get to know them better.  I am pleased to be interviewing my blogging friend Laura today - she blogs at A Day In Our World and visits Acting Balanced from Alaska.

1. Tell us a little bit about your blog:

Day by Day in Our World started as a blog to share our family's adventures with friends and family in other parts of the country.  My acceptance to a new project, The Homeschool Crew, by The Old Schoolhouse led to the inclusion of product reviews.  While I initially reviewed just homeschool related products, it has grown to include a much wider variety of products and services that appeal to our family and we hope are of interest to our regular readers. We do still share snippets from our family's life, especially since we have so many friends and family wanting to see what life in Alaksa is like.

2. How long have you been blogging and what do you love about it?
I started the blog almost 4 years ago.  I love the outlet for sharing thoughts with others and have truly embraced blogging about topics or items that I enjoy and want to share with other people.  Time on the TOS Homeschool Crew has felt like a ministry and in many ways other aspects of the blog feel like a ministry.

3. Who is the person or group behind the blog?
When it comes to writing, that would be me!  Inspiration, though, comes from the rest of my family or out in the community.

4. What hobbies/interests do you have?
I love to read, which is probably why I've got so many book reviews lined up.  I also love to bake and cook.  And, music is such a part of me that I enjoy time playing the piano or singing, which is not often enough these days.  As a family, we try to get out and enjoy nature.  I'm probably the least athletic of the group, so the hikes I go on are more low key.

5. If you could invite 4 people (real or fictional, living or dead) to a dinner party, who would you invite and what would you serve?
Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XIII, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Mother Theresa.  As for what I'd serve, I'd probably make some of the dishes my boys love (red beans and rice, mac and cheese, homemade pizzas) served with salad.

6. I can’t live without… chocolate and running water!

7. Something people would be surprised to know about me is…
I have 3 degrees since graduating high school:  Chemistry for my undergraduate and then a Masters in Science for Neuroscience and a Masters in Business Administration.

8. Three of my favorite blogs to visit are (includue urls) :

http://totustuusfamily.blogspot.com/ (I've known Allison since late 2007 and am so glad she shares wonderful insight on her blog and I can keep up with her family as well.)
http://www.catholicbloggersnetwork.com/  is a newer project in which I am participating.  Love the new avenue of connecting with other Catholic bloggers.
http://thelegacyofhome.blogspot.com/  is a blogger I met on The TOS Homeschool Crew.  I love how she is so focused on fulfilling her life as a wife and mother and her blog is a source of inspiration for me.

9. Three of my favorite posts on my blog are (Include urls) :

Riding in the Taxi Cab of Life:  http://daybydayinourworld.com/2008/12/riding-in-the-taxi-cab-of-life/  I wrote this post a short while after our music minister died while recovering from surgery.  I truly believe that people come into our life, if even for a short while, and can have a huge impact on us.

Hearty Meatloaf :  http://daybydayinourworld.com/2011/08/hearty-meatloaf-a-taste-from-home/  I had a fun putting this one together and the boys adore this meatloaf.

Gold Panning Fun:  http://daybydayinourworld.com/2011/10/gold-panning-fun/  This is one of several tagged with Alaska that show our adventures as we live in The Final Frontier.  Picking one is hard to do, but I loved some of the photos I was able to get that day.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy life to sit in the hot seat today Laura!
