Holiday Gift Guide Review&Giveaway: Caillou for your preschooler

Caillou has been around our home on TV since Robyn was little.  In Canada we had the opportunity to watch Caillou in both English and French, and Robyn used to get Caillou stories out of the library too!  I was pleased to find Caillou available here in the US on PBS so that I can share his world with Erik and Liam too!  Even more exciting is that Caillou has expanded beyond the two dimensional world of TV and books and is now available to play with!

Caillou is a preschooler who delights in the small wonders of the world around him, embellishing everything he sees with his rich imagination. With a focus on role-playing and make-believe Caillou toys and games help spruce up reality with a healthy dose of imagination so kids will be inspired to make up adventures of their own.

I received three different toys for the boys to play with and one of my lucky US readers will win the same set of three great toys (and they should arrive before Christmas!)  The set includes the Fireman's HouseClassic 14.5 inch Caillou Doll and the boys personal favorite- the Learning Train!

My thoughts on the toys...

Classic 14.5 inch Doll:
Erik is really taken with Caillou, the doll.  He likes to help feed Caillou and they sit together on the couch and Caillou even takes a nap with Erik!  This is a great sized doll for Erik.  Big enough to be able to see the features and not to have small parts to worry mom, but small enough for him to be able to pick up and carry around with him!

The Fireman’s House:
Although this toy is small, it does allow for great imagination play!  At only 6 inches tall though, it's one that I have to keep up and away from Erik because the pieces are small enough for him to eat.  I love that it comes with so many different element though!  One thing that we've found though is that Caillou can't wear his fireman's hat when he rides in the car - it doesn't fit... so the hat has to ride to the fire separately.  Liam combines this set with his 'Red' the Firetruck from his Cars playset and it seems to work well.

Learning Train:
Hands down, the boys favorite toy from the set - the Caillou Learning Train is great for both boys - it's pieces are big enough that Erik can't swallow them and it moves, makes noise and still allows for some great imagination play and story telling!  It squeaks, the bell rings and Rosie and Caillou can move about and play on and off the train!   It's also not so big that it takes up a huge amount of room!
