Music Review: Mat Kearney's Young Love

I had the opportunity to check out Mat Kearney's new album, Young Love as part of a One2One Network project and I have to say that I honestly hadn't known a ton about the artist or his music when I offered to check out the CD.  What have I learned in the week that I've been checking out the CD in my car?  I've learned that Mat Kearney has a way of making music that is modern, fun and catchy.  It's also got a great beat that makes you want to stop what you're doing and clap along ... or at least tap your toes as you drive along.

My favorite track on the album is Chasing The Light - which I think has some great lyrics, a fabulous tune and wonderful message.  In all honesty, there isn't a track that I don't like... the energy and stories told in each song make me listen harder to hear more of what Mat Kearney is trying to say.

I'm not the only one who likes Young Love either...
Critics continue to buzz about Young LoveEntertainment Weekly describes the album as "earnest folk-pop ditties, riding a sunny hip-hop beat", while USA TODAY declares, "Kearney's lilting hit Hey Mama, written for his wife of a little more than a year, only scratches the surface of this excellent album from the Nashville singer/songwriter".
The complete album is worth buying, but of course in this day and age you can also pick and choose your favorites and download what you like!

Even more exciting is that I'll be able to tell you just how good a musician Mat Kearney is when I go to see his show live here in Charleston on September 16th at the Music Farm!  Check out his website for more concert dates across the US!
