MOM What Being a Mom Means ...

The word Mom means something different to every single person, and until you've been a mom, I don't think that you realize what an impact and meaning that one short word takes on...

It's funny - when I was pregnant with Liam, I dreamed about the time when he would call me mom and I never dreamed that it would be almost four years until I knew that he actually identified me as his mother...

but that doesn't diminish what being a Mom means to me...

Being a mom means kissing the boo boos and always having a band-aid in your pocket.
Being a mom means staying up late with your daughter while she works on her homework.
Being a mom means running your daughter's homework to school when she calls at 11:00am to say that she forgot it... and then going back again at 1 pm when she calls to say that she also forgot her flashdrive.
Being a mom means watching your children grow and become who they were meant to be.
Being a mom means counting backwards from ten when you hear a crash and a spill.
Being a mom means love, hugs and kisses
Being a mom means rarely getting a full night's sleep 'til your child is a pre-teen (and then not again after they become a teenager)
The word Mom means something different to every single person, and until you've been a mom, I don't think that you realize what an impact and meaning that one short word takes on...

My children are all wonderful and unique - and I cherish my moments with them ... today, it was helping Robyn cut up mangoes for her yummy Caribbean Chicken Salad that we had for dinner. It was counting backwards with Liam from 10 to 1 and then helping him 'blast off' and then chasing him around our back deck playing dinosaurs.  With Erik, it was holding him and cuddling him while he slept and tried to get over his low grade fever.
