Product Review: ReBinder

I hate when companies take something that could be recycled or upcycled and do something to it that makes it impossible or at least more difficult... so when I came across ReBinder, the green office products people, I was really happy to see that not only were their products made from recycled materials, that it would be very easy to recycle the products again when they had gotten beyond their usefulness...
I was sent the above sample set of products to try out... and I did get to touch everything first, before Robyn and Wayne laid claim to most of it!
ReBinder is the leading manufacturer of unique green office supplies. All ReBinder product materials are sourced from verified FSC and SFI certified sources and assembled by a local, AbilityOne certified disabled workforce. Our eco friendly products make a difference and make sense.
What I love - the binders are so sturdy!  They may not be a flashy color, but the choice of recycled cardboard or chipboard mean that these binders are STRONG!  The hardware in them is also high quality, so you can rest assured that they'll stand up to the toughest of tasks!  You can add office labels, draw right on them... or my favorite idea, use it as a craft project and either decoupage on it or cover it with fabric!  They come in every size from 0.5" to 4" binders and three different levels of quality!  What I really love is that you can customize your binder by adding a folder pocket, tab dividers and more, all made from recycled cardboard or chipbo!  But the best part of the ReBinder is that not only can you recycle your binder quickly and easily when it's outlived it's usefulness, but you can REUSE the binder rings by purchasing just a new cover for it!  There are just two screws to undo and you're back in business!

Another product that I really like is the RePocket presentation folder - this beats those flimsy two pocket folders hands down... it's sturdy, stays together and looks stylish - and again, you can customize it any way you want!

I also received samples of:

ReSleeve: Our recycled cardboard CD sleeve without the plastic. ReSleeves are made from rigid 16pt bending chipboard to protect your CD/DVD . The perfect off the shelf solution for the software company, music label, the band or the board room. Show off the artwork on your CD through the open hole in the front...or choose the version with no hole.

RePlay: Ideal for one disc or two, RePlay recycled cardboard CD cases come with two open pockets that fit a single disc and a small booklet or two discs. The same size and shape as a traditional jewel case but made from 18 point recycled bending chipboard. You'll want to replace all your broken plastic jewel cases with a RePlay.
ReBadge: Tradeshows, Conferences, and Seminars all produce a lot of waste. ReBadge is sure to be the topic of conversation at your event. Your attendees won't believe that their badge is made from plants and not from plastic! We hope you'll reuse your ReBadge multiple times, but if you can't -- compost it! Comes with a sample our 100% recycled perforated brown cardstock.
ReWrite mini -- LINED: We've created the perfect sized 5" x 8"recycled notebook for taking notes, sketching or doodling. Our ReWrite mini comes with 32 pages of 100% Recycled / FSC Certified paper and a recycled FSC Certified bending chipboard cover. You'll get a sample of our most popular college ruled (lined) version but our ReWrite are available in case quantities in ruled, blank or quad ruled graph paper.
ReBound: Make your presentation a game winner -- go for the ReBound. Document Finishing supplies have been limited to plastic and non recycled paper options. ReBound's clear cover looks, feels and performs like plastic but it's made from plants! ReBound can be used with any comb or coil binding system and comes with a clear PLA cover and a 20 point recycled FSC Certified chipboard back. It's the perfect solution for proposals or LEED proposals.
* Rebinder's Chipboard/Bending Chip: 100% Recycled / Minimum of 85% Post Consumer Recycled Fibers, FSC Certified and fully recyclable end of life.
* Rebinder's Corrugated Cardboard: 70% Recycled (at least 40% Post Consumer Recycled) and fully recyclable end of life.
* Rebinder's PLA (Poly Lactic Acid): Clear sheet made from plants, not from plastic. Certified Compostable by ASTM D6400 Standards.
The CD Sleeves are going to come in handy when I travel, since I've gotten rid of the jewel cases and put my cds into binders - they will protect my cds from the elements without adding too much bulk!
The thing that astounded me most is that the clear sheets and ReBadge samples weren't plastic at all - they're plant based and can be composted - how cool is that!
I would have loved to try one of their larger recycled notebooks, because the ReWrite Mini was co cute and useful.
I really appreciate the fact that ReBinder has put so much thought into creating a working solution for those who want to have a sustainable office and leave less of a carbon footprint while still being organized and productive!  The only concern I have is that you currently have to order in bulk, and I'm not sure what my little home based blog business would do with 75 presentation folders right now...
