Personalizing your holiday cards...

As Baby E's birth draws nearer, I am looking forward to announcing his birth in a unique way - and saving on postage at the same time... I plan to create a special holiday greeting card to share with my friends and family this year that will include Baby E's arrival information and birth statistics, as well as a picture of all of us...

I'm hoping this isn't too ambitious an endeavour, as last year's family holiday photos were decidedly tough to get - but I have faith - and a plan this year.  We have a friend who is an avid photographer and has a wonderful digital camera and an endless amount of patience... he's not a professional, but he is an exceptional amateur and loves practicing his craft...

He's a bachelor, o my thought is to invite him over for a home cooked dinner of yummy pre-holiday treats, ply him with said yummy treats and get him to help me create a fabulous set of photo images to capture our expanding family at its best...

Then, armed with this fabulous photo... I hope to create a great card using Purple Trail's extensive Personalized Holiday Cards collection...

Depending on how the photo shoot goes, I'm leaning towards opting for one of these three choices:

This one, this one or this one

There are so many ways to personalize your holiday cards, having a special photo shoot is just one of them.

Another would be to gather family pictures from the year to make a collage celebrating the whole year, or sorting through your candid photos to find a few choice ones that tell your family's story for 2010.

A third option is to have one of the kids draw a picture and scan it to add to your card instead of doing a photo card.  Or as part of one of the pictures in a multi-picture array on your card.

One of my personal favorites to add flair to your card is to include a short recipe, or family anecdote instead of a saying on the inside.

Having the kids write a verse instead of using a stock saying is another great way to get them involved...  my twelve year old daughter is getting really good at poetry, so along with the birth stats, I may just give her free reign over creating a fabulous poem for inside our card.  It would definitely make this year's holiday card personal and unique and would give her some ownership of the card too!

What do you do to add a personal flair to your holiday cards?  Do you even send out cards?

However you personalize your holiday cards, Purple Trail can help you achieve your holiday card goals!
