Back to Blogging with SITS - Day 5 (Why do I blog)

Wow - save the tough one for last...

Why do I blog?

I started this blog because I was finding that facebook was moving too fast... I had over three hundred friends, and some of them had thousands, so my updates were running off their walls faster than a speeding train, and I was constantly having the same conversations over and over... people who didn't know that Liam had been diagnosed with Autism, others who didn't know we were trying a GF diet, still others who were asking about other things going on in our lives...

and then there were the people who were telling me I should write... I had my grandmother's memoirs to edit - she has written several short stories that she feels encapsulates her life and helps us as her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren know more about who she is and how she came to be part of that journey... and I started thinking about stories from my own childhood that I wanted to share and remember.

I had a few IRL friends who blogged and had read their stuff, and though I didn't think I was as good a writer as some of them, I thought I'd take a chance.  Once I got started, I started meeting other bloggers - I knew they existed on some plane, but had never really explored the blogosphere, and lo and behold I loved what I found... so much so that I follow over 300 blogs now, and regularly visit hundreds more through communities like SITS, and The Lady Bloggers.

Blogging has become a big part of my world... and as I learn more and more about it, I think I am expanding my blog to meet the needs of a more diverse group of readers and followers... I love to read, so finding out that publishers would send me books to review was a fabulous perk - I started with BookSneeze and eventually found other publishers and P/R sites that would allow me to review their books - my favorite site that I've developed a great relationship with is Pump Up Your Book Promotions.  I have also started integrating product reviews and giveaways in my blog - which is fun for my whole family... I love going to the mailbox to find out what goodies have been sent to me and sharing them with you:)

Blogging has become a big part of my life and I wouldn't change it for anything - why do I blog?  Because I love it!
