Five Romance Book/Series recommendations this holidays

If you are like me and devour a well written romance story, I would love to share ten of the books (or first book in a series) I have recently read that will help keep you warm (or steamy) this holiday season.  Not all of them are Christmas stories and they are in no particular order - nor are they all recent publications - some I received ARC copies of, some are Kindle Unlimited and some I purchased...  (Amazon links contain my referral code)

This is a fabulous series focusing on a fictional NHL team - one of the things I love is that the series focuses on mature players (so far) and all of the characters are thirty or older - which makes reading this series easier for this thirty plus year old lady...   Book one features Scott and Becca - and the chance to reunite after years apart.  What I love in this author's style is she doesn't use a ton of flashbacks and reminisces to prop up the story - she keeps their relationship current and while they talk through old hurts, they don't dwell on them...  Once you've met Scott and Becca, and been introduced to their friends, you won't be able to resist the other three novels currently available - I promise!  (Series purchased)

From the Blurb: What will it take for her to Just Say Yes?

Scott Taylor has the perfect life. He gets to fulfill his dream playing professional hockey, has a loving family, and a tight group of friends. But the one thing missing in his life is a partner to come home to. He knows exactly who he wants to fill that position– the only woman he has ever loved. The one who got away, who constantly consumes his every thought. What it would take to get her to Just Say Yes to a second chance?

Becca Phillips is an independent woman who has made her career as an ER nurse a priority in her life. She has a loving family and a best friend by her side, but she can’t seem to get over her first love, Scott. Insecurities led her to break up with him years ago when he started climbing the ranks in professional hockey and, for eight years, Becca has avoided Scott when he returns home each summer. Can she overcome her fears and allow love back into her life? All she has to do is Just Say Yes to the one and only man she has ever loved.

This is a series that I started this past summer and the entire series is free on Kindle Unlimited!  I just read the fourth and final book recently and it made me want to go back and read the entire series again!  What I love is that while the series focuses on The King family, it is not all written in one voice - three different authors voice each member of the family - starting and ending with one of my favourite authors, Molly O'Keefe writing as M. O'Keefe!  I immediately fell in love with and empathized with the heroine, Veronica (Ronnie) as she struggles with the death of her father, supporting her sisters and dealing with her history and current situation with Clayton.  This is a truly straightforward HEA story with some smoldering heat that will definitely keep you warm on a cold winter's night.  Molly's writing style always draws me into the world she creates within seconds - making me glad she is up first in the line up for this series that also features S. Doyle and Julie Kriss!

From the Blurb: The cruel and beautiful man who ruined my life has everything he wants—everything except me.

Five years ago, Clayton Rorick loved me. Or so I thought. Turned out he only wanted to get his hands on my daddy’s company. Heartbroken, I ran away with nothing but the clothes on my back. Like a twisted Cinderella. When my father dies, leaving my sisters in a desperate situation, it’s up to me to help them.

I’ll have to beg the man who broke my heart to save us.

But Clayton hasn’t forgotten me and what he wants in exchange for his help is…my body, my heart and my soul.

Everyone needs a sweet Christmas romance at this time of the year and my top pick is Cara Colter's Snowbound with the Single Dad - it has everything you need - a Billionaire, a kid who needs love, a woman who steals both the child's and father's heart and of course a romantic HEA after a few false starts!

From the Blurb: What he wants for Christmas…

His billions can’t buy!

Widower billionaire Aidan Phillips is determined to give his daughter the traditional country Christmas she wants. But his vibrant hostess Noelle McGregor is showing him that money can’t buy happiness. As the snowstorm swirls outside, Aidan recognizes the pain in Noelle’s mesmerizing eyes, and finds himself opening up about his past. Might he have found the perfect present for his little girl after all…a mommy for Christmas!

Stella Bagwell delivers another wonderful HEA at Christmas in A Ranger for Christmas - once again, I picked this story because everyone needs to read a few great Christmas stories for the feel good factor - and what better than an 'office' romance!

From the Blurb: No romance on the job—

Until she meets her new partner!

Arizona park ranger Vivian Hollister is not having a holiday fling with Sawyer Whitehorse—no matter how attracted she is to her irresistible new partner. Not only is a workplace romance taboo, she has a daughter to raise. So why is she starting to feel that the Apache ranger is the one to help carry on her family legacy? A man to have and to hold forever…

Finally, I really wanted to tell you all about an amazing Hockey Holidays anthology I found this Fall... but unfortunately it was a very limited edition, so I am happy to tell you the tale of finding Jennifer Lazaris as a new to me author and gobbling up all four of her hockey romances starting with Getting Lucky from the Las Vegas Kingsnakes novella trilogy - just a warning ... this series is HOT! It's also an incredibly fast read which makes it perfect for sneaking in a little me time over the holidays...  I absolutely love Zoe - she's such a strong character who is a social worker and helps unravel Ryder's walls and control.   I love that there is a pursuit story - and that Zoe needs persuading... and you'll love meeting Ryder's teammates so much you will want to read their stories too!

From the Blurb: Losing it all…
Seven years ago, tragedy stole everything from hockey star Ryder O’Bryan. He’s coped with the devastation by shutting down emotionally, and maintaining strict control over everything in his life: his image, his career and the carefully hand-selected women he takes to his bed. He vows the only commitment he’ll make again is to the game, and the only ring he’ll ever wear will be the one given to him when the Las Vegas Kingsnakes win the most coveted trophy in professional hockey.
Hedging his bets…
When straight-laced Zoe Miller shows up at Callahan’s bar, the pretty redhead charms Ryder with her sweet personality and sexy legs. He gives her a ride home and is surprised to learn she has an agenda: a one-night stand with no strings attached. After the hottest sex of his life, Ryder wants to see her again, but Zoe won’t settle for being just one of his many lovers-she wants more.
Unable to reach a compromise, they go their separate ways. As fate leads them back into each other’s lives once more, Ryder gets a second taste of their explosive chemistry. This time, he isn’t about to let her go so easily.
Zoe’s complicated past prevents her from giving Ryder what he desperately wants. She’s determined to guard her heart against the charming forward with the sexy tattoo sleeves and killer smile.
Going All In…
The inability to break through Zoe’s walls rattles Ryder, and the life he’s fought so hard to control quickly unravels. The pain he’s kept buried begins to surface again, and he’s forced to confront the one thing in his life he’s feared for the past seven years. If he doesn’t take a risk, he might never recover from his heartbreaking past. But, if he can roll the dice just one more time, he might find himself finally getting lucky-in life and in love.
